Those are some specialized ikebana - flower arranging shears. Useful for cutting through thick stems on fibrous plants like sunflower or thick reeds.

If it's your first bonsai tool, get a concave cutter, and a good basic ashinaga-style shear. Much more useful.

That's a good price for the ikebana shear though.

Regards,

Matt

ahhh, i have most of the tools i need, including a concave and leafe snippers.

I liked the looks and styling of these and the Japanese box was a neat touch.

I'm sure i could use them for bonsai as well...hell, ive used kitchen scissors when i couldnt find anything else.

(was that a nono? ehhe)

I think these cutters would suit you best as a display item. It is very unique looking.

I was thinking that too Whidn, We'll see.

I currently have all my tools packed away somewhere so maybe i will use it to begin with.

Although after i placed my bid and had a closer look at it, i realized that without the loops on the handles, it could be a pain to use.

Oh well...I'll let you know how they are when (if) i get them.

Yea thats how it goes on E-Bay.. If you really want something you gotta watch it close. I suggest making a bid as much as you think it will go up to and press submit at the last second.

I read that there are now programs that people can set that automatically zap in a new bid in the last second or split second. Pretty hard to beat and takes away alot of the fun that e-bay used to be.
