What do you store your tools in?

For years, I used an old tackle box. This spring I bought this bag, since it had more room. I thought I could store wire in the center, but there isn't enough room. Overall I'm happy with it, it is easy to grab from the shed and take out to the trees, and everything is pretty handy. The only complaint is that it is a bit top heavy, and I've dumped it more than once by not being careful in setting it down.

So, let's see what everyone else uses!

Darrell -

My toolbox carries quite a bit of equipment, so it is rather large.

Ive run out of space in mine already, but i made a canvas tool roll this year + it does the job quite nicely, hopefully if i get a wire rack made for me i'll be getting storage below the rack to save carrying more than one thing.

darrellw,

I used to use that same type of bag, did you know it has a "hidden" area in the bottom that is perfect for storing a couple rolls of wire?

I had to up size recently and I gave that bag to a friend who is just starting out in bonsai.

Much to my GF's consternation, my tools are stored on the coffee table, on the basement stairs, and on the kitchen counter. Well, "stored" may not be the right word.

After all, I'm not "storing" soil in the carpet, either.

Derrellw;

I have the exact same bag and love it. My tool cleaning eraser and a thin tape measure fits perfectly in one of the little side pockets. I use the hidden base pocket to stash a few sand bags to view trees at different angles. With those puppies in place there is no tipping over! Storing wire is a different problem. The less the copper gets jostled the better.

I don't think mine has that, unless it is hidden really good!

I have seen larger bags that have a bottom compartment, if I get a few more tools I may have to upgrade anyway.

Great idea! I had thought about some rocks, but something that is useful (rather than just ballast) is better.

Nick Lenz uses it on deciduous trees and it works well to speed healing and prevent drying and die back on wounds. I don't why it works (vitamins in the ointment?) but it works well. I have had particularly good experience with Prep H and tridents.
