I'm surprised no one has mentioned small chain saws, die grinders, dremels, fordams and carving tools. Not to mention impact carveing tools.

Good idea vance wood i might give that a shot as i am new to the jin also im still debateing on wether my elm would look good with one or not

G'day Greg...

Regular jin pliers are the best, but no absolutely required.

Another "household" tool is the long nose flat tip pliers.

As to a torch...try a kitchen torch...of chef's torch.
