Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I will show some posts of the tree after the workshop.

Quick (perhaps dumb) question: I realize how carving is done - can't do it yet, but I realize how it's done. However, how does the carved wood become so very white? Is it merely exposure to the elements once it's carved?

TIA

The carved wood is treated with lime-sulphur, and this bleaches the color of the wood.

Hey Matt, you posted sometime ago for suggestions for future online demos, maybe some carving and wood treating would be a nice to have when the dust settles round here.
