Maybe the squint/close your eyes routine, meaning you can't actually see what you are doing - gives a more natural look.

I must try that......with GOGGLES ON !

Ian.

Wood chips are terrible for your eyes. You can do some serious damage. At the very least, you will spend hours in the emergency room or at the doctors office, in pain. Why would anyone take the chance??

Hans, if you love him (and I can see why you do!) please give him some goggles! Tell him they are from all of the friends that he doesn't know, all over the world, who want him to be able to see long into the future!

perhaps so, but people are prone to flaunt gifted items, even if they might make them look somewhat dorky.

So apparently I'm the only one concerned about the guy wiring the other side of the same tree?? When you're using powertools, extra hands on the same workpiece isn't recommended. It's can be fairly routine to pluck a wood chip from you eye at the local hospital. Re-attaching all of the tendons on the back of your hand takes a bit longer.
Let's be careful out there, people.
