Matt,
That just might be your most informative and best-presented article yet! A hearty THANK YOU! for taking that time to put that together for us! I think I may build one of these myself rather than buying that turntable that I asked you all about a few weeks back. All the best, OMC

Super article Matt!
Why don't you put it into a similar format to the article on bonsai shows and post it on the intro page? It would be a tremandous future resource. |

Hi folks,
Just wanted to take a moment to say that John's presentation/workshop was excellent! I ended up with what is probably the nicest turntable I've ever seen! I was very fortunate that last night was the night that I finally joined Midori after moving to the bay area. I previously lived in Florida and was active in the Brevard County Bonsai Society there. Needless to say that my interest is in tropical trees...I had some wonderful mentors there. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone at Midori. Again, hat's off to John....it was easy to justify not investing in a turntable for the 5 years that I've been into bonsai since most of my trees are mame size, but I have a feeling that this wonderful turntable is going to make things a LOT easier! Thanks John! Annette |

how do you drill that hole that allows you to screw in the screw for the lazy susan?

Pretty simple. Attach the lazy Susan to the round piece, and turn the lazy Susan so that it makes a star shape. Now one of the holes of the bottom part to be attached to the base will be between 2 already screwed into the turntable (round part). Mark where the hole needs to be, and drill a hole all the way through the turntable piece where you marked, big enough for your screwdriver, and the screw head to fit through. Turn it over, place it on the base, look through the hole until it lines up with the hole in the lazy Susan base and screw into the base.
Does that answer your question? Adam |

If anyone is having trouble finding appropriate lazy susan type mechanisms, the bonsai greenhouse I've been volunteering at lately has a whole bunch of these things sitting on a shelf and I think they are fairly cheap. They have very small ones, and they have dinner plate sized ones as well. If I can help anyone out with getting a size you need, I can list measurements and such and would be happy to purchase one and mail it to you in the US if you are paypal enabled. If anyone is interested, let me know and I can get measurements and take photos when I'm up there this weekend.
