Now the last four screws are going in. A power screwdriver makes it easier, but there are only eight screws holding the table together, so it's no big deal!

Marking the position for the brake is next. John likes the corner for easiest access. Mark the position of the two screws

Getting close to done now,

The turntable is turned over on its back to measure out some of the no-slip rug underlayment. It doesn't need to cover the entire surface.

Paint both sides with contact cement and let it get tacky before you put them together

Now measure and cut the black liner for the top. John cuts his a bit oversize and then trims it up after the glue has set.

Last step is to trim the excess rubber off the top after the glue has set up.

What you need for this project:

1) One or two circular plywood rounds, about 12" in diameter and 3/4 to 1" thick

2) A rectangular base about 12x18 inches and 1/2" to 3/4" thick

3) Some 9/16" screws

4) Optional: Some rubber no-slip rug material for the base

5) Optional: Some corrugated toolbox liner material for the top

6) A nail

7) A brake - see the closeups and the photo below.

8) The turntable mechanism. 8-10" is adequate for a 12" table.

9) Some contact cement and a disposable brush.

TOOLS

a) Screwdriver

b) Drill for drilling the pilot hole and the clearance hole

Here is a closeup of that window lock that makes the brake. It's important that it be THREADED so that you turn the knurled knob and it goes in and out, so it can press against the table. There are some that are sprung or unthreaded. Don't use one of those!
