Where to start?

Hey,
I just started getting interested in Suiseki & bought Phan Van Lit's book. It looks really interesting but...
well, where do you get those kinds of stones? Certainly my region of the country doesn't have indigenous rocks that look like that. Do you go to an importer/dealer? Any names?
Looking forward to getting my rock off...

Re: Where to start?

There are basicly two roads one could take. 1. Look for your own suiseki, 2. buy them.
I would check at the nearest bonsai dealer to find if there is a suiseki club in your area. Start there and they can fill you in for suitable locations to look for stones. Are there any rivers near you? This is the first place to start looking. If you are near the ocean or a desart, these are the next best places. Some of the finest stones in the USA have come from Death Valley, Cal.

You can do a WWW search "suiseki" and find a lot of pages. Start with Felix Revera's site, email him with where you can find someplace to buy them in your area. He can be alot of help. He has always replyed to my emails.
Regards, Bonsaial
