suiseki basics

Anyone have any specific hints about looking for suseki?
I live in an area with volcanic rock. Basalt, Gabbro and Rhyolite. I have lot of creeks and lots of lakeshore to find rocks along. I am in Duluth Minnesota, by Lake Superior.
Some of the formations that I have found look promising, but nothing world class yet. - Shane

I know of a place to look for rhyolite, but I have not gotten there yet. There is a creek which runs through a small rhyolite canyon a couple of blocks from my mother's house.
I should go soon, it is starting to get cold here.
One of these days I am going to get ahold of a geologist that I know. He might know of places to look.

Theres not much a geologist could do for you. This is a case of walking the stream bed and a little luck. This is all elbow grease baby. You might walk all day and not see anything worthy. The next day you may walk a little further and find the big kahoona. happy hunting Bonsaial

What is your scedual like on sundays. I would be glad to share with you a local stone location that has always provided a good stone or two. I still need help with pictures. What say we get together and work something out.
