Suiseki?

I found this rock today, and I wanted to know if anyone thought it had potential as a suiseki. Here is one view (I will post two).

Here is a second view. The bottom is almost perfectly flat and hasn't been cut. To give you somewhat a sense of scale, if you put a quarter up to this stone, the quarter would be about 2/3-3/4 as tall as the stone. It's not that big.

A good suiseki has to have interest , or something unique about it that catches your attention. This may be color, shape, patina, or the likeness to an object. This stone is pretty bland. It looks like a common piece of granite to me, and something that could be found along any river anywhere.

Most suiseki tend to be a mineral of one substance ie; jade, serpentine, jasper, limestone, etc. They should be hard and dark in color, and should show wear such as that from a river or scouring sands of the desert. The patina should show the years of water and drying that will bring on a luster that can't usually be duplicated by man.

Keep looking, and try down by the local river if you have one near, goodluck, Bonsai-al

Thanks bonsaial1! As you can tell I don't know much about suiseki.

I will be staying briefly at a cabin this summer that is close to water, so I may find something there. This one was found in some desert-like land.

I will have to go look at a rock book I have to identify rocks in the future.
