Need Suiseki Guidance

My grandfather found this rock here in Tennessee quite some time ago. He picked it up because he thought it was a geode. When I hit it with a hammer it broke cleanly in half and revealed a red and black quartz bubble. I noticed it on my shelf a week ago and thought it would make a neat Suiseki.

I just carved the daiza today when I got in a woodworking mood.

Should I leave it like this, carve lava flows in it, or take the white off completely?
Also comments on the daiza would be appreciated, as it is the first I’ve done.
