Just collected this

Hi.

I am new to this, so bear with me. I collected this stone on the beach of San Juan, Puerto Rico last week while on vacation. It is about 6" long, 4" high, and about 2" deep. I thought the white streak looked like a a waterfall going down a mountain. What do you think?

Re: Just collected this

Entling - I'm not really an expert on suiseki, so the opinion of someone like Al will be worth a lot more. But I think it's a spectacular find! What a great stone! Hopefully some of our more experienced members can give you some suggestions for displaying it.

Re: Just collected this

Entling, a slightly different take on your stone, which I too think is a beauty and a wonderful find. To me, it looks like a mountain with a Glacier down the front.... or possibly a ski run, Sorry I must have snow and Ice on the mind!

Either way one nice rock!

Re: Just collected this

Thank you all for the positive feedback. This is my first find and I am quite happy with it. The picture is too bright due to the flash. If we get some sunlight here in Indiana I will take a picture in the daylight for a much better image and post it here. Is ther an faq somewhere about making a dai?

Yes, there is. It is in the Suiseki FAQ. There you can find two articles about dai.

Re: Just collected this

I'm with Jay. I get a snow feel when I look at the stone. Either way it's a nice stone. Come on down to Fresno, I'll work you in for a fitting. AK

Re: Just collected this

On second examination I agree about the snow rather than water. I guess since I picked it up in the carribean I associated it with water rather than snow.

Re: Just collected this

you can grow some moss over it, and it would be a nice waterfall...
