High Quality Chinese Stone

I am not sure if anyone checks this section of bonsaiTalk anymore, but I guess I will keep posting here anyways.

Here is a high-quality chinese stone that I purchased from Chiara Padrini. On the Chinese stone section of her webpage it says, "Thanks to the friendship with the Chairman of the Shanghai Rock Association, I can show you some high quality Chinese stones selected at distinguished Chinese collectors, available for foreign suiseki lovers." So, I guess you could consider her an import/exporter of these stones.

One thing that I did not notice from the picture that was provided on her website was that the daiza follows the contours of the top part of the stone.

BTW, the daiza was carved from rosewood.

Charles,

Nice stone. What is the name of her website. If a young man such as yourself can afford a splendid stone like that I might have to peruse about and see if I too can pick one up

cheers

Jow,
Her web address is www.padrini.it. The address to the sales part of her website is http://www.padrini.it/collezionisti.htm . This brings you to a section where she sells stones that she has collected from the Linguarian Alps. If you click on "Chinese stones for sale" link at the top of the sales page, that will bring you to the section of chinese stone. There is also a link in there for the highest of quality chinese stones, but those will lighten your wallet quite a bit.

If you have a question on a price of a stone, you have to e-mail her and ask. I had the entire list of the prices of Chinese stones, but lost it somewhere. I can tell you that the minimum price on the stones was 140 Euro (around 180 USD). This was the price of most of the stones. There were also a few that went all the way up to 450 euro.

If you decide to buy one, I'd like to see what you get.

Josh, I just noticed that you are from Florida. Will you be attending the BSF 2004 convention? It looks like were going to have one of the best conventions in Florida history. The workshop trees are top quality, including 15" trunk bald cypress and ti-ti and 5" trunk black pines. Hope you can attend.

Thumbs up

DBZ,

It would be great to go to BSF this year, and I've e-mailed the organizer to see what the fee is. I've never worked on material even close to that scale and it would be an amazing experience to attend. However, I'm pretty broke and travel that far is kind of difficult. On the other hand, BSF is a few months away so I've got some time to get back on my feet, so attendance isn't out of the question.

I'm ashamed to admit that I've never even been to the bonsai club right here in Safety Harbor. My rather stingy collection of trees is pretty young and I don't have any respectable bonsai tools, so I've been too shy to make an appearance there. Perhaps I could offer the members some ficus cuttings to make up for my lack of proper equipment...

Thanks for the reminder about BSF! I'll let you know if I register...
