GSBF Convention Suiseki

There was whole room devoted ti viewing stones. Felix Revera happened to be docenting while I was there. He is without a doubt a very fun man to be around. He has some great stories about collecting and we had a very good time.

On to the stones..

I have tried to get as closeup as possible while photographing these stones. I have tried to capture the color and texture of the stones to give them some uniqueness, since many of them look similar when viewed from far away.

While there were only four or five natural uncut stones in this exhibit, I for one am glad that there are those that wish to cut. The beauty and gradure of this display is testiment that man can improve on nature.

This is one mans statement to combining art and suiseki. This is a hand painted backdrop, which he feels accentuates the stone.

What do you guys think?

Thanks for browsing, Al

the white space between the painting and the stone is very distracting to me. Maybe its just because of the angle it was taken, but to my eye I think it would look better if the bottom edge of the painting was down behind the stone.
