wood bonsai pot?

a dear family member saw this in a wood working projects book and decided to make it for me.thanks bro.
even though its coated with tar i dont see it lasting very long if started watering it every day.
is this a known style of pot?
does it have a name?

Looks to be made of mahogany. Very nicly done I might add too! This might be a good pot to use as an indoor subject, but prolonged outdoor use coupled with water would pose a quick demise to the wood. Mahogany although used extensivly for marine application, is usually coated with fiberglass or epoxy. When exposed untreated to water it gets very slimy and starts to decompose rapidly. Might make an attractive display for an artificial tree though.

im doing the same i always did,but suddenly my pics are comming out much larger.
i`ll do something about that.

i dont understand the photo enhancing/editing program that came with my poloroid.no wonder they went out of business,ha ha.
i can resize the pic ok,but it appears inside the larger pic,and i cant get it out.
anYone know about this stuff?

You might could slow down the decomposition by watering those rocks only once a week. I bet they hardly notice! Just a thought.

these rocks are notorious for dieing of underwatering,once a week in this climet would surely result in dead rocks.
i dont mean to be rude,but,sheech,dont you know anything about rocks?

I wonder if you could use a couple of coats of polyurethane on the inside to keep the pot from "going to pot " so to speak.
