unreal potmaker!

All you that have ever messed with clay will get a kick out of the ability of this pot maker. imagine the hardest possible way to make pots and that is what he does and does it outstanding!!!
Take a solid block of clay and take away what isn't a pot. It's like Michangelo all over again. I am amazed.

I wish I could read Japanese!

Tam,
Are you saying there is a book detailing the work of Ryuen? Are you a potter? Tell me more about yourself and your experiences with clay.

Re: unreal potmaker!

Hello Bonsainut,

Whoops almost forgot who Tam [ Tambrand ] was , this site is so new to me.I followed Walter Pall's link out of the IBC
gallery yesterday.

Yes , there is a copy in reality of that Ryuen article , it's
a long , thinnish book in Japanese on Mame' and small Bonsai.
It is the sister companion to yet another long , thinnish book
also in Japanese , but this one has a chap building in the slab technique.
Each of these books features separately , [a]Conifers , [b]Decidious , trees.

Yes, I am a potter of about twenty two years or so [ more a serious hobby ] , just a bit longer than I have been doing Bonsai [ closer toTree Penjing - clip and grow ].

I tried the carving out of a single block , it works , but it was
a primitive try.
Now that I know that there really was nothing " secret" in the article , and I have some spare time this year , I will try again.

After Jan.2nd I will have more time to give to Bonsai , so I can visit this site and the IBC gallery more frequently.

And you , your interests , being doing Bonsai long , making Bonsai pots ?
Stay Well ,
Tambrand [ which is local dialect for Tamarind , a tree that grows wild down here - West Indies / Caribbean ]

Thought I'd give this old thread a bump. Ryuen has a little new stuff (Slideshow is awesome) on this site. One of my all time favorites.

This is indeed an interesting site. I think I was the first to post this site address to another newsgroup about 3-4 years ago, but still like to look at it from time to time.
BTW, my wife, Nancy, makes a few pots from time to time. She ONLY makes mame pots and they are ALL carved from single blocks of clay. VERY time consuming. I used to do it some about 6 years ago but gave up due to time involved.!
Here's some of Nancy's pots.

[QUOTE=Bonsainut]Dale,

Adam,

Thanks Adam,
I have to be careful about telling her about compliments though. She gets greedy about her sales "cut"!

Actually, I think most get given away by her at conventions as gifts.
Dale
