It might help if we knew how big your hands are

Just kidding -- I think you are right that it gives a better sense of proportion for the small ones, and without the (annoying) use of lighters, cigarette packs, cell phones, and beer cans that so many bonsai enthusiasts prefer.

What do you think
I like this better and may continue to photo small pots this way, in fact, I think it even ads a lot to some larger pots photos.

Dale,

Nice pots all around. The ones in post #4 and then the creme in post #6 are my favs, really like the texture and coloring on those. In relation to the quote above, now you will have to be finding a hand model?
With the hand I think it is good like you say, esp. for the small pots.Nice work.

Dale, I like the idea of hand held also to get the scale of it.
Great looking pieces BTW.
Not being familiar with pottery nomenclature, what is "slip?"

Do you think Paris Hilton would only show her hands?

Basically, slip is watered-down clay, like a syrup or much thicker. Slip is what molded pots are made from, ( unless push molded) and slip is the common "Glue" for joining pot pieces in assembly, like w/ slab builts.

Dale

My comment was based purely on my personal preference and the fact that I am not familiar with these pots. Some of your pots seemed to leap off the screen and grab me, alas the 5 sided one did not, but then neither did a few others. I also am a fan of unglazed pots, although I do use glazed pots, so maybe a 5 sided pot in the future, who knows

so in answer to the above question: I am definitely not familiar with the 5 sided shape and it would take ME awhile to get used it it. All of your pots looked nice but I was just window shopping out loud.

happy days

Dale,
That 5 sided pot is out of this world.
Are you going to have any of those at MABA?
