Sage,
These kilns are very heavy. Look for a dealer very close to you. here is a list of some from a US Dealer for you to look at and see the price ranges.
I have bought a couple of electrics used and saved a bundle of money. Seems there is always some lil ole lady going out of the ceramic business. good luck.

Pill,
Aw Gosh....thanks man! ( blushing)

Sage,
Well......the kiln is only part of it....
but, nut is right about looking at used kilns if you are thinking of dabbling. Most are usually worn but can be repaired fine. Schools often auction there old ones cheap. My first electric kiln ( still in use) was a slightly used kiln from a gentlman who died and his wife asked if I'd be interested in it.
Also, You can get really small "test" kilns that would be fine for doing a few mame/shohin pots at a time.

But,
I gotta tell ya, that is only a tad part of your expenses.
and,
there is a lot better money in almost any other type ceramics!
Dale

Fantastic work Dale!

I finally managed to remember to take a shot of an almost finished pot before firing.
Here's a still-wet one, but trimmed/altered, requested by a BonsaiTalker.
A smaller copy of one posted a bit back ( the twice-fired big one) , but a darker and smoother clay. Fired pot will be the color of the clay in the small land/water pot below the turntable. Pot before firing is INSIDE 11" X 3 1/8" deep.

Dale, neat stuff! I like the first unglazed oval as well. If I end up with that maple, I may be in the market for an oval unglazed pot next year. Hehehe

I also really like that last unfired one you showed too. What do you call that type of pot that almost looks like it has rivets on it? I think that type of pot is very neat.
