Mr. Dale,

First and foremost I would like to say, I do appreciate you posting your art for us to see from time to time...The 'slab built rectangle' with impressed sides is truly one of those 'memorable' pots...I think it is one of the most outstanding 'traditional' type pots that I have seen...I much prefer your more 'non-traditional' creations, but a true artist must have the ability to create both and make them unique...You certainly have that talent...Thanks again for sharing your work...

Regards
Behr

Dale;

That blue and red shohin you posted earlier reminds me of a chili pot sitting on a campfire. You can even see the flames licking up the side of the pot.... truly neat affect, probably couldn't get that again if you tried though, eh?

I really enjoy seeing your fantastic work Dale, even the oops's are amazing in their own right. (enviously wishing I had half the talent you do)

Regards
Fletch

Here is a virtual someone just sent me for ordering an oval unglazed pot for their tree, which is a Eastern White Cedar (Arborvitae).
They used the pot from post #14 which was, BTW, a commissioned pot to begin with.
This makes it so easy for me to visualize what I need to accomplish and how it SHOULD look when finished.
Regards,
Dale

Rich

Dale,
Whatever clay and firing you are using, don't tell me because I may steal it. The richness of the clay body with whatever oxides you are adding makes them look very old. They look like pots from a wood fired kiln.
This white stoneware and oxidation ain't gettin it.
Very Nice

Dale,

I have watched your postings for somtime and at least to my eye, you are pushing the boundaries of bonsai pottery. I say that in a most complementary way.

This has been my favorite set of photos to date. Will be anxious to see what happens in the next 2 or 3 years and beyond.

Fletch, Bary and Sohei,
Thank you so much.
Sohei, "Pushing the boundaries"...thank you. That has been my hope. I guess that is one of the "good outcomes" of making them one-at-a-time by hand. it's easy to take another step each time I open a bag of clay.
Regards,
Dale

Hi Dale

Hope you are well.

The pots look fantastic, some truly inspirational pieces.

I have been up to my eyes in commissioned work at the moment but hopefully I will be posting some soon.

Kindest Regards

Andy

A few from the end of March 2006

Here's an experiment I thought I'd try. A combination of a traditional rectangle but with a rustic flare. It is an unglazed rectangle with "Hammered" top and bottom rails. About 12+" long.
I'm not sure yet if I like this look?
