Dale, it looks like a good time was had by all! I'd love to participate in a demonstration like that.

Yes we can only dream about having access to the kind of tuition Dale could impart. A very well presented thread, many thanks Dale.

Since this thread was about doing a demo, and there was no good picture of the finished pot, here are a couple quick shots of the dried pot that I took yesterday just before I put it in the bisque kiln.
It better shows the "Hammered" technique I mentioned in the demo text.

Dear Dale

Hello , at last i have time !!

First of all i would like to say You how nice it looks
the workshop , it is good to see so many interested people .

And You look like a little cosi bear doing the thing ,
he likes very much , your fingers look so good with the clay !

How do You do that after firing ?
Load the pots in the car , glaze , fire them and
the makers can come and collect the pots ?

As i do workshop , people come to my place ,
make , choose a color as they want and i fire.
Than the makers come and get theyr pots ,
or sometimes i bring the pots to one person
who gives them to all the others.

Going to look to all Your other topics !
Bye here
Morea

Morea,
What I did was put all the pots onto paper and setting in the trays in the picture.
Then, I cover them by putting them inside trash bags. This keeps them from drying any for several days.
When I get them home I let them dryout for a day or so, watching them close to be sure they don't get ahead of me.
When they get learhery I then clean up stuff on them, fix or add drain holes and add wiring channels and drain channels underneat.
After drying I bisque and finish with oxide. the only glaze I use is in the land & water pots in the "water" area.
I spend several hours AFTER the workshop with the followup. I think i spent over 2 hours just doing the oxides, but, usually I don't have 42 pots!
After high firing, in this case, I will take them wrapped in a box to a convention in April that Bill V. will be at and HE will take them to his next club meeting in Rochester.
Dale

The Pots Are Finished

Here are a couple shots of the finished fired "hammered" demo pot. It was glazed with a green/grey/black ash glaze combo I'm experimenting with that is completely matte.
The colors are a bit off but I can't get them more accurate
Color is a lot more overall grey and less green and red.

I thought I'd show some of the workshop students larger finished pots after firing.
As usual, the overall best ones were the Land and Water trays.

and, a tea bowl

Here is a more accurate colored shot using my cameras one-shot white level adj. and flash against a white wall with no other lighting than normal room light.
This shot is also a good size indicator

Cool glaze, Dale. The pot looks bowed in the middle, though. Is that parallax from the camera?

I think what gives it that look is that the hammered rail on top isn't the same thickness all way around, and on this side it is thicker at each end than in the middle.
this would be more uniform if done at home and not in lecture demo in a few minutes.
