Ah, I see somebody's been playing at work again . Haven't played much with slabs (don't have any to play with) so can't offer an opinion until I see em planted up all nice (pressure on Irene..... pressure.....)

Keep in mind that most of the slab will be covered with soil and stuff, so color in the middle won't matter as much.
Can't wait to see how they do in the sun-maybe Irene could post pics of the plantings she does.
A question, how easy are they to drill holes in for wire? If it's just plastic, should be pretty easy right?

Hi Susan,

Drilling holes in these slabs is as easy, like drilling soft wood. As you can see, I've been playing again, so made a new and even bigger one. I call this the oasis slab, so probably best trees on this slab would be coconut trees or one who look like these.
Esspecially for you btw, cause you said you would like blue for water.

Measurements are: 26,8 x 11,8 inch (widest point) or 68 x 30 cm.
Colours are blue/brown/beige.

Maybe I should have used yellow instead of beige, for better looking like sand.

Made some new ones, tried to make them differently. IMHO they look much better in this way, and yes, they still look a little plastic. Measurements are arund 20x30 cm.
Slab2 is one esspecially made for myself, will be planted in the future with a little ficus forest of 7 trees.

Hope you like them, sure that some off you do?

Wessel, I actually like this idea of yours. Any unconventional trees or styles would fit with such a crazy design of your slabs. I have a group of palm trees that I am trying to do a tropical island bonsai landscape with. I would love a big dark-brown slab (in the center to represent an island) with a rim of white (to look like sandy beach) and then blue (for the ocean water). Here is a picture of my palm trees. They are actually very old, and look very much like tiny coconut trees when trimmed up. The fruits are bright red too. The trees would have to be separated and spread out over the slab of course. What do you guys think?

I like the big purple one. I think I even have some trees that would look awesome on that!

Have any chartruese or hot pink, I might have some use for a pink one?

Since I am currently working on Keppler Editorial VIII, I may have found my material for IX

Hi Al,

Which one do you call the big purple one?
I can make them any colour you want, wherter its sandy or pink cadillac colour. So what kind of pink do you prefer?
When you want I can ship them to the US, only charging you shipping costs. I like to make them, cost me nothing (just my boss, my workingtime). You can even sent them later to others in the US if you want.
Shipping costs vary, till 2 kg (30x20 cm slab ways about 600 grams) costs will be roughly 18$, 2-5 kg, costs will be 30$, 5-10 kg 50$.

Like said, for me it's just fun to make, not in any way to make a profit. Thanks for the kind words and the oppurtunity to be the next subject of Al Kepplers editorial .

Si, thanks for you kind reply aswell, maybe there can be some kind of deal, throughout the US, where a lot of you can get a slab of mine, just by joining along?

Wessel

wes you have come onto a cracker of an idea . i fully endorse and believe in what you are doing. you are the plastics expert here im gathering not the rest. therefor work it pal hone in. dale has good experience here, he is right about keeping them earthy and as matt as possible. any way the edges are what are important to get it right. what would happen if you were to to sprinkle different sands and rock dusts & particles on before the plastic sets. i would also imagine that these are inexpensive to produce so who cares if they dont last a life time.
