Hi kcpoole
Thats a good question. I possibly looking at something that flowers and has a naturally weeping habit. Maybe a callistemon. I hoping to find a native with a strong trunk and delicate flowers. Peter |

Very nice pot you scored there.
Its such a shame the whole bonsai community (especially Australians) have to loose such a gifted potter. Just last weekend i went to a show just north of Sydney where he set up a store. It was only then that i learned of his retirement, and I'm very disappointed. Fearing it was my last chance to get a Pat Kennedy pot, i bought one. The one i purchased is round, heavily textured with rough cracks and a beautiful sandy colour. I was not at all disappointed in the price either. I'm planing on putting a nice old man banksia (banksia serrata) in there Peter, have you considered a weeping melaleuca? Some of the species or varieties with purple lacy flowers look amazing, and i can picture one in that pot.... JayC |

I am considering various natives. The only melaleuca I have cuurently have pink flowers. As you suggested the pot requires strong colours but for me a more feminine tree like the smooth bark of the water gum. In winter the leaves go a deep red in the colder parts of Australia.(I have one in training) I am trying to fit one of my stock plants into the pot. As you may know good and varied Australian native stock plants are few. Pat has promised me a pot for one of my other natives so I hope he makes it before he goes on his extended break. Peter |
