Michael Hagedorn

Hello everyone,

At the Pacific Northwest convention this past week, I had the good fortune to spend a couple of hours talking with, and learning from the staggeringly talented potter Michael Hagedorn. Michael makes some of the best pots I've seen anywhere, and somehow several of them found their way onto my bench. I wanted to share a few of them with you before I fill them in the spring.

Here is a small mame or kusamono pot:

And finally, a larger rectangular bonsai pot. I'm planning to plant a rather slender hornbeam in it next spring.

While I'm singing Michael's praises, let me also remark that he gave an extraordinary lecture on pot selection at the convention. I think that minute for minute, I learned more during his presentation than during any other event that week. If you get a chance to hear him, I highly recommend it.

With my best regards,
Carl

Amen to that brother! Michael makes some killer pots. I only wish that I could have afforded to buy as many as you did.

This is the only one I have, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. It is about 5" in diameter. I have black mondo grass in it and it looks great!
