Making a Rectangle pot with the Slab Technique

Being that there are few how to threads out there now I thought I would put in my two penneth.
Here is the way that I make my rectangular bonsai pots with a rim.

1) Cut the pieces required
2) Score the edges of the sides
3) Use slip to join them together
4) Push together to form firm fixing
5) Reinforce the inside of the join
6) Join all sides together to form a box

Good essay.

You just sent 50 bonsai-talkers screeming to the community center
You should mention how long this prep and assembly and cleanup took! , not to mention bisque, glaze and high fire.

I like Dale's suggestion about dropping in the bottom. I would think that might make it really simple to do a cut-in foot. Dale; about your tip on the rim; do you do it as a big slab and then cut out the part you don't need, or do you cut it into a clay "frame" and then put it on?

Andy, from your pics, the pieces look a little drier than leather hard. Or is that just the way this clay photographs? Just curious, as I haven't done slabs in a while.

Thanks to you both.

Michelle
