Bruce...

My thoughts exactly. A very knarled, cascading japanese black pine or something along those lines... yum!

Makes me want to buy it... Just to be the one to give it it's final interpertation. I could spend a life time to find and groom the right tree, but it would be worth it. I maintain my original thought that it would be eye-popping.

Hmmm... I'll have to count my pennies, and give the idea more thought.

I'd like to see what you'd do with it, Victrinia.

In the meantime, though, a lifetime is a long time to wait. Perhaps you or Dale or Bruce or someone else who "gets" this pot would like to put together an illustrative virtual? Image #33032 seems to be taken from the appropriate angle....

Best regards,
Carl

Sorry, I don't do virts but to me it's just a question of balance. A lot of visual weight away from or down, or both, from the pot would appear to almost tip over with a sloping sided pot but a slight angle or even straight side would firmly root the pot. Paintings of the early day's of bonsai in Japan show outdoor social settings with plants in trays and high vessels with straight up sides. I think this kind of pot would work best with outrageous, non-conforming, wild looking collected material. At least thats how it seems at the moment.
