Homemade Slate Pots.

picked up some nice peices of slate near my dads property,
i just carved out a shllow pot with a screwdriver and hammer,
theyre about 1 1/2 inches deep and about 10x7 "
i drilled drainage holes with a 10ml masonary bit
how do you guys think they will go?
how do you think they look?
i think an old juniper would look nice , now it's just a matter of finding the right tree.
regards.

I like, although I agree with Kazuki and Roboku, a more natural look would suit better than the rectangular you have at the moment.

Regards,

TB

the only thing i have altered is the inside bowl , beleive it or not square and rectangular is how this slate naturaly occurs ,due to the layered nature of the stone its virtually impossible to round one off and very rare that you see a curved peice at all.
lay it on its side and tap it with an axe and you end up with two peices of different thickness but , you guessed it...........the same shape.

this is an australian wattle i picked up as nursery stock, not sure of the specific species but aparently they grow incredibly fast and only live 20-30 years, this tree naturally grows on the hills around where the slate came from.
regards.
