Green pots

Tomorrow I am bring home a bunch of pots that have been glazed and will post them. Thought I would post these two that I made this weekend. You can't really see the texture in them, but that should come out after they have been fired. The oval one isn't really mishappen...I think it's the angle of the shot. Haven't decided if they will be for bonsai or for Chistmas presents, yet.

Re: Green pots

Woops. Didn't post. Keep forgetting all that stuff you have to do to make a picture Windows ready! Macs are so much easier.

Re: Green pots

Two different clays...Mayan Red, 375 and Hawaiian Red, 365. I'm nowhere near mixing my own. They were made by drapping a large rolled out slab (1/4" thick) into a couple kitchen pans and allowed to slump (with a little help) into the pans. Meanwhile, I rolled another slab the size of the top. After it had all set up overnight, I turned the pan over on top the rolled out slab, fused the two together, cut the rim, put the feet on, then took the pan off, turned the whole thing over and cut the middle out of the rim to open up the pot. I textured them and after a premliminary bisque firing (low heat) I will glaze them and then fire to Cone 5 (approx. 1200 degrees, I think).

I took them to class (I've just been doing this since the fall) and broke the oval pot picking it up!
