Dear Viewers

Last weekend was the big bonsai-congres near Lille .
It was good , everybody was so sweet and took good care.

Yes , Ian , i was very happy to see David again

Here are some pictures of the biggest part of the stand,
the longest table inside the stand area and a sculpture
i specially designed and made "l'arbre dans le main "

ENJOY ------------------------>
Kind regards
Morea

Nice neat display Andy. Good for selling pots. I see a lot of familiar pots.

Morea, I'm suprised at the SPACE you have. Is that common in your neck of the woods?
We commonly get 3 six or eight foot tables. Rarely more unless you pay oodles. Morea looks like she has lots of room there!

Neat is a good start being as it was my first one. The only reason why there is some familiar pots is cos they aint sellin... whats going wrong, I will be dammned if I am going to throw the towel in though

Regards

Andy

Dear

Andy
Thank You for Your very nice words !
The display is nicely .
The squar pots in the back and the amorf ones in front
make a good opposit of eachother ,
so both sorts of pots are as equal to see

Were the guests able to come and see behind the table ?
It seems very inviting though because
of the nice tree and pot in the back.

The black cloth is good , but the left corner

Your space was small indeed.
It looks nicely , warm and inviting !

Thank You for the PM !
Lets fire our kilns !!!

Dale

The space i hired Lille was 4 / 6 mrt.
Not cheap !! but luckely after the first day
i sold enough pots to cover the expences.

It was indeed the intension to create an open space .
were people could walk in and be among the pots and accents .
To sniff up and feel the vibes !!!!

I like to play with spaces , to create a complete world
within worlds , as i exihibit my pots in the common way ....
Think people would go crazy from colors , movement and
different forms .
Mr. Jeker said to me in Lille : "....this is so much... !"

The number of pots is defenitly not more......
But he bought a little pot from me
which he liked very much and had already the tree for it in his mind.
I felt honored and good !

Dale , what means "the neck of the woods "

Peter

Thank You for Your kind words !
My holidays are over ,
working to load the kiln again.

Kind regards
Morea

Andy,
I don't know why your pots wouldn't sell. They are very very nice.
Perhaps too many potters at your shows locally. This is getting to be a problem here also. If you have a show with say 20 vendors, there shouldn't be more than 2 of them that are potters. This also takes into consideration that there are probably 80% of the other vendors selling imported chinese or japanese pots and several also selling handmade pots they've bought off other potters. So, usually 90+% of the vendors have pots!! Most promoters, or vendor chairmen, really don't consider his much I'm afraid.
All those newbies who USED to start a bonsai business after 6 months into bonsai, NOW want to start making pots and selling them when they realize they can't style trees! . We'll soon be in the same boat, I'm afraid, as those trying to sell imported trees! After 10 years selling mostly trees I decided I needed to look another way!, first by dropping those CHEAP imported trees, then later by dropping almost all trees.
Selling pottery ( and TREES) is a serious "Hype Game" often , your pots may be as good, or better, than other "hyped" potters but they sell better and more expensive ( this always gets me with those little cast pots, BUT we've talked about THAT before! ) If someone perceived as "Famous" would hype your pots, it would really help. People will buy a lesser pot for more money because of a nameso they can say "I got such /n such's pot". This is ABSOLUTELY true!! I've seen , and heard, it over and over!
Also, although I don't know if this pertains to you any, but ONLY YOU can sell your pots! If you wholesale to dealers who put a few on their tables, they won't sell, at least not fast, well and at the price they need to inflate to. You have to STAND THERE AND TELL PEOPLE ABOUT THEM, but I think you already do this well.
I see famous potters pots for sale on folks tables and they never sell as well as if those people were standing there! You gotta sell your own work!

Morea,

"Your neck of the woods"
I guess to AMERICAN slang for you huh? I didn't think of that!
Basically It means " In the area you are from" .
Sorry
Dale

Dear Dale

No need to appologize , , thank You for explaning !!

What You write is true !
The last part of Your reply toutches my heart , because ,
It is the strongest thing as a creator is present , tells and sells his work .
People want that also , it is in art also that way .

Of couse the maker is the seller .

But sometimes the maker sells a batch to a bonsai-ist so the maker
has money and the bonsai-ist the special serie to sell to customers .

The whole dilemma at the beginning of your reply gives me the spirit and fire ,
to innovate , move on , to create more and more and more .
I embrace the newcommers because our occupation is dy-ing ,
not many potters in my neck of the woods .
But i do not give my years and hard work away like that , i think new potters
should invent themself , yes with SOME help and the honest , best and good
will float on the surface and stay there .
It might sound naive but it is my believe and futur vision
in humans and in art .
Kind regards
Morea
