drum bunjin type pots

hi,
I was reading a caption under a tree, though i forgot where, and they introduced the tree and stated it was in an iron (or steel) drum pot. Now i am no genius or anything but where they talking about the style and look (ie color) or was it a genuine rusty iron bonsai pot?
Also is there a particular store that y'all have found that sell a particularly good selection of drum bunjin type pots?
alright, good day
bye
mike

Was the caption on a tree posted here or elsewhere. I posted a shohin pine here about 6 months ago that looked like armour. Very interesting pot.

It would have been a ceramic pot in the shape of a drum, usually with some clay "rivets" along the middle or perhaps both edges.

You might try www.bonsaimonk.com (Bonsai by the Monastery)

Regards,

Matt

BonsaiAl, i am most sure it was elseware, the caption that i saw, and the caption specifically stated a metal (steel or iron) before the words drum pot. I'll find the caption so i can put this to rest. I looked for the post you mention and foound one with your pride and joy on it, that is a very nice pot as is that old one on tthe bottom of the page 1 post.

Matt thanx for the link, I will check it out. Speaking of monasteries, that don't seem like too bad an option in life sometimes. But let me get this straight.... You have never seen a bonsai pot constructed of real steel or iron. Correct or incorrect.
THanks for replying
good day

No, I have never seen any metal bonsai pots of any kind.

In Georgia, I grew a couple of swamp cypress in a couple of pie tins with a holes in the middle of 'em.

Does that count?

(I don't think they were particularly happy in there, though.)
