To Coil or Not, that is the dilemma...

Hi All

I decided I needed to do something different the other day. The slab work was not "floating my boat" the wheel work was making me dizzy and I was all accented out.
So I decided to go back and make some pots they way I started out making them by COILING.
Not only was it relaxing, threaputic and a little time consuming compared to other methods of making pots, I had so much fun making this way again.

The pots are still green at the moment but I thought that I would post a few of them for your deliberation. I was pleased with the results.

When I first started coiling I squeezed and rolled the coils by hand. Now I have the luxury of an extruder and it makes the coil production so much faster, leaving time to concentrate on the pot itself.

Regards to you all

Andy

Very nice. I was just browsing through our community education classes and saw they are offering a ceramics course this year for $100.

I took cermaics one in college and loved it . . . maybe I should do it again!

BunjinEnt,

"they" did not move it. It was removed after a request from Stonemonkey.

I'll leave it to him to explain if he feels the need.

Just so you don't think big brother is involved
Thanks.

And here I thought all aspects of Bonsai was the sharing of information with each other in a peaceful manner with out the pile-of-tics (politics) involved.
From trees to soil to pots and wire and stands.....

Irene,

Indeed it is all about free exchange and there is never any desire to stiffle threads by any moderator. Exchange can only come from those willing to share their experience.

However, with more and more trying to make a living out of Pottery, in what is a very small and specialist marketplace, sometimes it is easy for sensitive and "hard learned" lessons of techniques to be placed in the public domain.

That is the power of this relatively new medium.

I would urge all contributors to divulge only that that they are personally happy to divulge - hence, not to rely on us to clean up threads that others may object to.

It really places us in an awkward position and I for one, am not about to make a habit out of it.

This is no way should "retrict" anything that might be posted in future so long as each individual understands this.

Best Regards,
Ian.
