bonsaiTALK Hint: Did you know you can double click any bonsai term on this page for its definition?

Buying overseas pots

Finding it tough to get a hold of any pot makers her in Oz,Looks like the pot makers over here are either in hibernation or very scarce, so I was wondering if any of you that make good quality hand made unique pots out there sell to overseas ?? I would like the pots to have signatures if possible and be medium to large.

I've bought and imported pots from the U.K. (Bryan Albright), Austria (Horst Heinzelreiter) and Japan (J-bonsai.com). Not a hard thing to do at all. Contact a few potters overseas via email. Tell them what you want and go from there.

Electronic transfer of money is the best way to go. The potters I've dealt with have this capability. Be prepared to pay a pretty hefty shipping charge if you're after larger pots.

rockm is right, we are all approachable

What abut Pat Kennedy

The only down side is the shipping, depending on where it is coming from and the weight of the pot sometimes it can be as much as the pot itself

All the best

Andy

Pat

Pat does not respond to any of my e-mails and so far I am yet to see anything I really like.

I forgot to mention American potters (since I'm American and it's not international shipping for me ) All sorts of excellent potters here in the States.

Dale Cochoy is one of those. I've got several of his pots --all are extremely good. Since he responded, he probably ships internationally...?

Details

Do the suppliers provide some sort of catalogue ...how do I find out what pots are available and at what price?

The above suggestions are all good. Another potter who ships (though I don't know if she ships internationally) is Sara Rayner.

Did you try to contact Dr. Roger Hnatiuk? He is a member of the Canberra Bonsai Society and makes wonderful pots. Flybri gave you this information on your last (recent) pot trawling thread.
