Zelkova Forest

Here it is today....Just wondering..ive let it go without trimming it to get thicker branches and more choise of branches ..should i trim now or wait till winter

I still think you need to trim now. The trees are healthy enough. Zelkovas have a tendancy to lose branches very easily and the way to stop that is to trim them up.

Trim and shape it. Then remove any buds on the trunks that sprout where you don't want them in 2 weeks. Then pinch the tips of the new growth as needed.

Thanks dave ,gary I just was not sure because ive seen in some books that they don't trim for 2 years! after a major cut back...

Woooooow 2 years without trimming. I'm shocked. I guess it all comes down to the health of the tree. And yours look damn healthy to me.

I think it has somthing to do with branch thickness and branch selectoin....
