yew

Hi,

I recently dug up this yew. I am not going to make any virtuals, because this will bring bad luck, and then I'm sure it will die on me. I see a nice cascade with lots of dead wood though...

Rootball (and this is after I removed most of it..) :

And in a container. It took me 2 1/2 hours to dig it out, and I felt my back hurt for a few days I didn't weigh it but I estimate it at something in the region of 50-60 Kg.

Re: yew

Detail of the trunk. I didn't bare-root it but put it in the container and filled it with split to make sure it wouldn't get waterlogged.

regards, René

Re: yew

Very tasty piece of wood. I can see the virtuals pouring in from Walter and Wolfgang as we speak.

Best regards, Bonsaial

Re: yew

Hi Rene

I have to agree with Al on that this is one serious lump of tree I see something along the lines of this virtual - the middle branch is difficult to see on the photo provided i think its possible.

Re: yew

James and Al,

Thanks for the virtual ! It's a big piece of wood allright ! And I'll have to find a pot for it someday... (if it survives that is ) It will stay in this container for at least a year (and probably longer) without me touching it, so I will have plenty of time to think about a design. It will be something like james made.
I will keep you posted,

Thanks, René
