This Years Zelkova Defoliation

I repotted this Zelkova serrata into a larger container this Spring and it seems to like it.

Here's this Summer's defoliation pictures.

I defoliated it on June 11th.

The tree looks much better now. I was sceptical about the first picture but now i realize that I was just seeing things from shadows.

Gary,

Looking good.

Ever thought about a shallower glaze pot for this baby?

Fish.

Hello :

I really like your tree, and also the pot. Congratulations.

Fish,

I did consider a shallower, glazed pot for this tree, but couldn't find one I liked. I didn't want to go too shallow. The tree is 26" tall and the pot is 16"x11"x2 3/4.

Then I ran into this pot and and did the deal.

I want the trunk to thicken a bit more to match the pot depth. <grin>

Do you have any suggestions as to a pot?
A virtual or something?

I'm open minded.

Gary,

You can't really call this a virtual, but, gives an idea perhaps?

Cheers,

Fish.

Fish,

I like the color but I'm not crazy about the oval shape. Maybe it's because I've had it in a
rectangular container with indented edges for so long.

The color would go well with the orange Fall foliage.

I like the tree and the pot! I would fatten the trunk to match the pot. Keep the foliage about the same size and add about 1/3 more trunk, and you would have it.

Nice Broom, Bonsai-al
