Yamadori Chinese Juniper
Hi All
I have just recently aquired this Juniper after looking at it for a good few weeks i dug deep and got it, it is yamadori and was styled by a chap called Mark Skan. I would love to hear what you think good and bad points please. Sorry about the poor pic I will take more soon when i get a chance. Cheers Gary Tree size : Height not including pot 29" and Spread 34" |

Very nice tree, although the inverse taper that's induced by the deadwood from this angle will need some work.

Hello Gary,
Nice tree! I find the optical weight of the crown way too heavy for this trunk which is rather feminine, and the inverse taper does not artistically look like it could support such a lush and full crown. Therefore I would radically thin the crown and then do a full rewiring of the top. I would angle the branches down and add lots of good movement to match the character of the trunk. It should almost be a literati in my opinion, and if you go this route then of course the pot is too stiff and formal. Another thing I noticed is that the live vein is quite boring and predictable. It would be much better in my opinion if you were to change the viewing angle so that the live vein perhaps appears and disappears with many twists, which would be much more interesting. It looks nice and healthy and you have a good trunk as a foundation, and it is only because it has decent potential that I am being so critical. I hope everybody is having a good holiday! bonsaimeister

Like some others I think this tree has potential that isn't being taken advantage of. Perhaps the inverse taper and lifeline look better from a different angle. Can you take some other shots with the tree rotated clockwise around 45 to 60 degrees.
