I remember your ideas for this set of trees popping up on GW. Congrats on the graft taking. I'm considering practicing grafting on a couple ficus I have. Thanks for sharing the life and times of Alice.

poots, great life line. good job with the graft, now we can only wait and see. it's good to see that someone else gives names to thier trees, my wife got me started doing that. in fact, my first tree, god rest its soul, was named casey. casey has since past on, and thats how i learned not to keep junipers in the house year round.

Thank you all.

At this point, I can start from nothing and design the trunk and main branches to be just about anything. Obviously the "story" of this tree is the clasping to a rock. Substory

Thanks chris! I hadn't considered anything like that, being stuck on old ideas. That's why I asked for new ones. I like the choice of pot, too.

ZW: Dunno! It worried me. I've experienced this with another ficus also, and the trunk was alive for over a year with no leaves!!! You can't tell in the pix, but there is a big mass of scar tissue at the cut site, so growth occurred, just not the right kind.

Any ficus geniuses got a clue?

Chris,
Wouldn't it be great if the leaves could reduce to that size! I like your shape for the virtual.

Turn the hands back on the clock
How does the ocean rock the boat?
How did the razor find my throat?
The only strings that hold me here
Are tangled up around the pier

And so a secret kiss
Brings madness with the bliss
And I will think of this
When I'm dead in my grave
Set me adrift and I'm lost over there
And I must be insane
To go skating on your name
And by tracing it twice
I fell through the ice
Of Alice

-Tom Waits, 'Alice'

Gday Poots!

Sorry to wax lyrical, but your Alice makes me think of Tom's Alice... His is a story of obsession and the descent into madness - not that you're mad or obsessed, but the two terms are familiar to most practioners of Bonsai.

I remember Alice when she was only little - attached is a very crude virt from 2003. How much she has changed since then... Her roots are looking great, and I can't wait 'til next year to see how she goes up top!

Thanks!

Fly.
