Works In Progress!

Attached are a couple of my "works in progress". The first one is a variegated juniper, which I have read is not that great for bonsai purposes, but It was in the clearance section of the nursery and I think I may have payed $7.00 dollars for it. The second one is a Scots pine that I styled. I'm not real happy with the straightness in the trunk of this one. However, although the picture doesn't show it very well, the bark seems to have a very aged appearance to it and for a "novice" bonsai artist I can live with it for now.

Personally I think the juniper has great potential, in fact in makes a nice bunjin/fukinagashi effect, however with the windswept, it kin of looses balance with the jins on the side of the foliage pads. the pine is a good start, and I see what you mean about the trunk. You might want to see if yu can get some trunk hooks or whatever they are to add some movement, it could have some great ptential too..
