Winter Pruning
Here are the promised pictures of my winter pruning done today. The tree is a cotoneaster sinuous forest purchased from a club member in failing health and as a result had been neglected, in need of pruning, restyling and repoting. It was a club workshop about ten years ago from a cutting started by another club member some years previous to that. I have pruned the obvious branches and will wire the tree as it breaks dormancy. When all branches are wired then more pruning may be needed. I may plant it on a slab but have not decided that yet. The first pic is a shot before.
Regards, Jonathan

Guys ,
Thought after posting this that I would ask for comments as to weather I should think about removing the farthest right tree, as it is the same size as the main tree and seems to compete with it for the main focus . I do realize that it would bring the number of trees to four. I could change that by Plant ing a small tree on the left side. I might look something like the attached virtual ( as such). Does anyone else think that this is the way to go . What do you all think ![]() Regards, Jonathan

Jonathan, do you have one of those orbital mind reading lasers focused on my head
, when I saw the first pic, I thought that the right most tree looked odd. It looked better after pruning, but I still thought it was out of place. I just thought it had to go. So, I think that what you have done with your virtual is excellent. definitely the way to go for me. It's not so much the fact that it competes for interest, as the fact that it has a big bow curve to it.Regards, TB

Good Idea!
Hi, yep that right one has to go! the virtual looks really good and i think it will look much better without the far right one. Goodluck and show us a pic after you've performed the operation on the tree so we can see it's new look.
