Picture 2 is the better front. The thing is, we live in a world designed for Right Handers and it would be cruel to inflict a left handed existance on the poor little thing.

ROBOKU, question is this more a semi-cascade than a winswept? It does not appear to show the effects of the wind, but rather a leaning over type style....does anyone agree? Of the two, I like the second view better!

I agree that side two is best. I also think that with some refinement and ramifying, it would look decent in either "windswept" or "semi-cascade".

Great taper Rob!!

Wonder if you could refine the flat chop some and it this wouldn't help. Then I think making Frted happy might be better.

Ffred's commewnt is very perceptive. I just reviewed my collection in my mind and all my cascade or slants are right handed. WOW.

Roots are much more interesting in view 2. View one has some obvious pruning scars and poor coiling appearance. However the development of the branching is better in view 1.

It is relatively simple to improve the character of the branching, and quite difficult if not impossible to change the fundamental character of the roots. Therefore, view #2 is the "front."

This appears to be a developing as a half-cascade.

Regards,

Matt

Hi Rob,

I agree with all the others, number 2 is the best front. The roots are better, the trunk looks to have more character and the chop site is less visible in number 2.

It would be interesting to see what the tree looked like before it became a cascade. Any pics?

Regards,

Chris/TB

Thanks all for the great response
The tree was originally a fomal upright .I had seen it at a nursery and noticed the top of the tree was dead ,the brach that you see is the only branch that was alive
so i bargined with the owner and he gave it to me for $7
what a bargin!!
to my surprise when repoting it i found a extra coil in the root !

i agree about side 2 and will trim and shpe it acordingly

thanks again
