White pine

Here is a white pine I recently purchased and did some wiring/branch repositioning. If you look close in the first picture, you'll see a preying mantis in the foliage. Sorry about the shadow in the second pic, it was getting late.

I thought I'd show these as an example of how "finished" bonsai can change very easily with the new owners taste.

Did I goof, or does it look okay?

Best regards,

John

That's a pretty little thing you've got there.
Very good job! I love those white pines.

I like the new look much better. Hope you don't mind, but I did a quick virtual with the crown a bit more filled in. Just a thought...

Regards,
Scott.

A very nice restyle. Very healthy looking tree too. Proves that just a little readjustment can improve a tree vastly.

Everyone,

Thanks for the kind words. I'm glad it is coming along in a manner that pleases you.

Hookeroak,

Thanks so much for the virtual. I have no idea how to do them, and it is exactly the direction I want to go (filling in on the right just below the apex). Your virtual helps me see it in the correct light.

Warmest regards,

John

John,

Good work! I like the direction you are heading with this pine.

As a matter of personal taste, if it were mine, at the next repotting I would use a slightly larger pot but not deeper and I would most likely choose a richer, slightly darker brown one.

You have a very nice bonsai here John, thanks for sharing.

Will
