White Pine

This weekend its abba's big show in bolton in the north of england,i've spent the last few months working on this pine which some may remember from the atm forum a while back, since it was last shown nearly two years ago,i've changed the front, although it is very 3 dimensional anyway, there are at least 5 fronts,a new Ian baillie pot was added, and another branch removed, its had wire inserted inside its main branch, and the end result is near to what i envisaged a few months back. The ramification is superb, and is not one of the "one bunch of needles makes a apex" sort of trees. It also appears to be ungrafted, due to the bark quality extending onto the branches, and no visible graft low down, thanks for looking.

Hello Lee ..... This is a beautiful strong tree well groomed and my only thoughts on design were the three branches coming out on the left in unison.
The virt. i have given is crudely done but throws another perspective on the tree. This is not a critisism in any way but just my thoughts.

Ash

This is indeed a lovely tree. The shape on the canopy is great, i'd love to have a poke around in there and get a better look at the finer branching. Just a thought though, the foliage pad on the left could do with just a touch more shaping. It still seems slightly rough around the edges and doesn't quite gel properly with the canopy.

I bet it's a monster job pinching the candles out to maintain the shape.

I like the overall presentation except for the unatural "hedge" look of the crown. The rougher look in 702 is much more appealing to my eye than the overly groomed (albeit more traditional) look.

No please don't do that!

Ash, you might not be able to tell that these branches point in different directions. Take a look at that close-up shot for a clearer perspective.

Your proposal would lead to a very two dimensional tree.

Regards,

Matt

Big Smile

How deceptive photographs can be. I did look at the tree in close-up and concur Matt you are correct. The third branch is definitely a back branch.
However I still maintain that if this tree were mine I would be looking very hard at losing one of the first two branches.
Lee it is highly unlikely I will pay you a visit but just in case I would chain that beautiful Pine to a secure stand close to the window and keep an eye on it.

Kind Regards Ash
