Last one, I removed the right branch the left side remained. I was hoping to achieve a visual balance. Granted the trunk is not the chosen front, neither is the foliage mass for that matter, but I am trying for the general idea of what could be possible.
thanks Paul

Hi Paul,
I think this tree has more than enough potential. I would have dug it up if I had the chance. The reverse taper is easily fixed I think. You probably won't need the left branch. If you make a jin of it, you can extend the deadwood in a shari that runs down the trunk to the roots. This way you can carve the reverse taper away. (and it looks cool too..) White cedars have a bit "bushy" look so I would try to keep that when forming the crown. This way the tree has a natural look. Here's a quick virtual to show you what I mean. regards, René |

I think Rene's solution is the way to go. This species is prone to jin and shari in nature, such as what he did in his virtual. The trick will be encouraging backbudding to tighten up the foliage.

Hi
Thanks for the virtuals and responses. I appreciate it! The cedar is slated for some carving by the owner. I dont know what the actual plan is. I agree with both of you that the virtual given is the best route. The one I have given was your basic skeleton, I was hoping to show the branch placement and then add the final natural "bushiness" later. Thanks for the input!!!!! Paul
