Although I'm no expert (far from it!) I'ld have to agree with the cascade. The first photo as the front, I would say if you wer'nt going to already.

Also picture a great little shohin tree. The long branch would be difficult to bend for starters.

Here is a virtual attempt with what I meant by shohin style. Think a round unglazed pot will be better.

This design can be achieved from either view. However good root spread is important so I chose this side and it is the side where the larger branch will be cut of from the back.
