Great little planting.

As for the mudman, he's most likely Shou Lao, the Chinese god of longevity. The container he is carrying in a double gourd, a symbol of longevity that is associated with the character.

So, in addition to the "stop and smell the roses" motif, the figure adds another "stopping to smell the roses will lengthen your life."

Some of the most common mudmen are some form of longevity or other "good luck" figure. I've got a few older ones, like the one you've pictured. I was interested in some of the details associated with them. Did a little research a while back.

that is soooo beautiful..very simple but true meaningful..am also fond of doing miniature bonsai gardens but mudmen are so expensive and rare here...your work inspire me more and hope to see more of this on coming days...truly amazing[img]images/icons/icon14.gif[/img]
