Upright Juniper Styling?

Didn't get any responses under general. I guess my post belonged in S&T. Looking for any advice before I make any aggressive cuts. I was told that this was a Juniper foemina (sp?). Thanks in advance.

Junipers grow thickness very slow in pots, so before you decide to start styling it, make a determination as to the final caliper you are trying to achieve with the tree

This tree has an interesting shape. If it were mine, I'd wire more of the branches to spread them out and bend them out, giving the tree a greater appearance of age. The trunk is long and skinny. If you don't want to plant it in the ground to give it more girth, I suggest shortening it and using one of the upper branches as a new apex.

I did plan on wiring all of the branches, just haven't gotten that far yet. Will have to look at it to see if I could develop a lower apex.

Try thinking the old and beautiful Literati style....Thickening trunks is a big NO NO for me, so just remove the two lowest branches, but first of all go do some Googling, type in Literati bonsai, and you'll gets stacks of information and many ideas.

Regards,
Nigel
