Updated Elephant Jade In Progress
I thought I'd share with you a tree I've been working on lately. I've posted this tree before and it has also been in my gallery. I just removed most of the wire that was done last year and finally this tree is finally taking the shape I want it to. This tree is very difficult to wire and takes a very steady hand. The leaves are very brittle and sometimes just touching them results in the leaf falling off.
I've also repotted into a a much better pot. The roots on this little guy grow fast and always within a few months start to grow through the drainage holes. The tree is almost 30 years old. Here is a before shot taken earlier this spring and and an after shot taken today.

The branches are in place so once the foliage fills in it should look a little better.

Great tree .
.. good movement in the trunk with gentle taper.I like the texture of the bark on the portulacaria. Your pot selection sets the tree off much better.

Thanks guys. It's hard to see what the wiring did to the tree from the picture. The branching looks great from all around. It's hard to find a jade with bends & curves in the branches.

Do you plan on developing ramification? if yes, i prune mine all the time, i only leave a pair of leaves per branch. Then the tree does a V ramification from that spot and i continue pruning, leaving only 2 leaves on that branch and so on

Gilbert,
How large is this tree? The bark has a texture that appears to be fairly old, but I doubt it is thirty years old. Where did the tree originate from?
