Twisty Ponderosa Pine

Hi,
Thought I would finally post a picture of theis tree, it finally came out of winter storage. it is an old collected Ponderosa that came from Fellow BTer JGamby. Picked it up while out in Oregon with the trailer last November. Tree was collected last summer in Wyoming. At some point during the year it appears to have suffered a severe drought stress/ thuse the large amount of brown on the needles. This tree is pushing candles extremely well and should have normal foliage by mid summer. We started fertilizing this spring and expet to see agood number of adventitious buds popping next spring when we will repot it into a a more manageable training pot.

Anyway, we call this one twisty- the box is 4+ feet long......

John

Great tree, John. The movement is surreal. I'd really like to see how it develops over time.

Hi John,

Ahhh, the old Dr. Suess tree.... atleast that is what I had named it while it was in my yard!! Its a good tree, and knowing what it looks like in person the pictures truely do not do it justice!
Rarely does on see a pine with this crazy of a trunk....

I look forward to watching it develop....

Thanks, Jason

I think the trunk needs more movement - the half inch of trunk without a change in direction is rather distracting

Nice character.
