Trident update
Here is the trident I posted last year while in a grow box. I moved it to a bonsai pot and started some branch work. The lower branches were about 30" and the new apex alone had reached 26" in one season. The whole thing was about 48". It was just too heavy and big to move so I repotted it into a smaller container. (24X16.5x6.5 mica) More branches will need to be removed but I think I'll wait and see what it looks like with leaves before I make any other cuts. The tree now is 20" tall and has a 6" trunk caliper. I will need to do a little root work also on the back side to move it to a smaller pot. The root system is shallow and it would fit a 4" deep pot but it's too wide on the back side and needs to be cut back some. I'll do that after more branch growth. It could use a little trunk carving also to remove some of the rough edges but enough for now.
