hey i like your tree....

however, it needs time to grow and really get some shape happening.

i personally think it should be in a grow box or a grow pot for now....to let it grow + grow... it would probably take 5 years to really look like a really nice trident maple tree.

so if it were my tree...id take it out of the pot...buy a grow box or a large foam box with drain holes and let it grow & roam free...

so far the trunk looks good...

but the pot doesnt look too bad either....the rounded edges make it look cheap...
and the fact that it doesnt have legs at the bottom to allow an air gap to the bench top is no good either.

but anyhow, see how ya go...

I agree with you. This tree was dug up this spring and placed in the plastic grow pot and should have plenty of room to roam for the time being. It needs to be shaped/styled this season and I would really like to down size it as much as possible. I am just looking way past that and thinking of a pot for it to eventually go into. So as of right now I dont even have the tree and im looking for a pot for it to eventually go into. Talk about being impatient. thats me. Thanx for the reply. here are some i have been looking at.

Can't really see if you have any changes in trunk direction under the foliage. If you do need to induce more movement a large grow box is the way to go - the nebari looks really good from this angle too. You say you want to downsize it but around what height?

I would like to have a height of 12" when finished? With a of Walter Pall's gallery as my inspiration.

#58306 i think is a better choice out of the 2...

the legs on a pot can actually bring character to a pot.....rather than just a boring flat bottom pot.

yeah i can tell your impatient...

tridents have really rapid root growth...wont be long till you have to root prune your trident again...

Nice tree. I would say a nice shallow, oval, white glazed pot should do the trick.

I have to say I'm not a fan of that pot but if its what you want then go for it. Also, what is going on with the left side of the tree? Is that a scar? It is very bare and I feel that there needs to be a branch there. If it is a big scar and you can't get it to bud in the area then you could use it as a feature and hollow it out.

Um but it looks like it has been in the ground for 5 years already. The trunk is thick enough, any thicking and it will need to be taller.
From here I would be branch selecting and working towards the shape, not putting it back in the ground.
