Arron,

Not sure where you are in the UK, but Bushukan in Essex have a Pumice mountain.

Degs,

If you have defoliated that Trident COMPLETELY then take real care with watering....you can afford to keep it well on the dry side as the tree now has no transpiration loss and needs to send out adventurous root after your repot in search of moisture and nutrients.

As Emperor Fish so elequently put it....these Tridents are incredibly tough, give it a month or two and I'm sure you'll be in business.

hey aaron,

i managed to get a 2 litre bag of pumice for 2quid off one of the stands at a bonsai day in coventry. but i forget the name of the company selling it.

if your near enfield there are 2 bonsai shows in june. onbe at the beginning and one at the end. They maybe there selling again.

Arnie, i did not know about that place, il have to remember that the next time im in need.

Ive still left some foliage around 20-30%. FWIW, no root pruning took place, but im not in a learned position whether to say if removing all old soil in late, late spring is as damaging as root pruning to the tree. il sit on the fence regarding total defoliation, and leave a small amount. as I said, no root pruning took place so hopefully the 4 weeks will prove to be a positive experience. if nothing else, this has helped my knowledge grow.

il post again on this thread with updates. but the input generated into this thread is greatly appreciated.

now about my other "problem tree"....................

Degs
